This comparison review is about the Bissell CleanView Compact vs MultiClean 2999. The winner is the Bissell MultiClean 2999, as it is a more upgraded version of the CleanView Compact.
The Bissell MultiClean 2999 is better as it has a tangle-free brush roll that can be turned off, as well as a longer cord and hose for greater reach. It has great suction that can be easily adjusted. This vacuum also features an allergen-seal HEPA filtration. So, it could be an appropriate option for pet owners. However, it is quite heavy, requiring more upper strength to control.
Meanwhile, the Bissell CleanView Compact 3508 has a brush roll of the basic traditional type, so the hair will easily get tangled. Its cord and hose lengths are also considerably modest compared to the MultiClean 2999. However, it is a lightweight but mighty vacuum, as its suction is amazing. So, if you just need a vacuum having strong suction and is easy to maneuver without any extra complicated requirements, I think this Bissell CleanView Compact is a good pick.

Bissell CleanView Compact vs MultiClean 2999: Differences
The Bissell MultiClean 2999 is better than the CleanView 3508 in all categories of my comparison review, including cleaning performance, design and convenience, filtration, and utility. In other words, the MultiClean 2999 wins 4-0 against the CleanView Compact.
Cleaning performance
Winner: Bissell MultiClean 2999
Suction strength
The suction power of Bissell MultiClean 2999 and CleanView Compact 3508 is really fantastic. When trying the CleanView Compact, I was amazed by its suction as I did not expect this little lightweight buddy could pull up all sand and dander!
Besides, the MultiClean 2999 is a competitive rival in this suction competition. It has powerful suction and does a great job of getting carpets clean. With this powerful vacuum, I can clean all of the dog hairs and dirt almost in one pass instead of two as often.
The Carpet Type Control slider of Bissell MultiClean 2999 acts as the suction control slider. When moving the slider to the top, middle, and bottom positions, the suction can be increased and decreased to be suitable for different carpet types, especially when your vacuum is hard to push or pull.
Brushroll system
The brush roll of the Bissell 2999 MultiClean is a significant upgrade from that of the Bissell 3508 CleanView Compact. Particularly, the Bissell 2999’s brush roll can be turned off manually and when locked in the upright position. Meanwhile, this is impossible for the Bissell CleanView Compact’s brush roller.
This shutoff brushroll functionality is very crucial, especially when your house has delicate surfaces like hardwood, title, or carpets with long fibers, as the brush bristles will not scratch the surface or capture the carpet’s fibers. Moreover, when cleaning hard floors, a shut-off brush roll helps notably reduce the debris scattering to induce the pick-up performance.
Additionally, the brush roll of MultiClean 2999 is featured a tangle-free design. The brand claims that this type of brush roll will prevent the hair-wrap issue which often happens in lower-price products like the Bissell CleanView Compact. After testing, I would say that it works very well, reducing up to 98% hair wrapping on the roller!
Additionally, the clear brush cover of the Bissell MultiClean 2999 is another feature I like. Though this is just a minor difference between these two models, for me, it is useful because the clear cover will help me know whether the brush roll function properly or not.
For the Bissell CleanView Compact, though its suction is amazing, the hair gets tangled in the brush roll easily and with a significant amount. However this is a common problem for the traditional brush roll, but it may be a notable problem for those whose pets shed a lot because the brush roll needs more frequent cleaning and hair detangling to ensure the best suction performance.
Sometimes, the roller of CleanView Compact stopped working within a couple of minutes of cleaning as the hair tangled too much, so I had to unscrew the nozzle bottom to clean the brush roll. Thus, if you have pets like me, I think spending more to get a vacuum with a self-cleaning or tangle-free brush roll is a worthy selection.
Compatible floor type
Both vacuum models can work well on either carpeted or bare floor surfaces. However, the MultiClean is relatively better than the CleanView Compact.
With the be-able-to-shut-off brush roll, the MultiClean 2999 does not scatter the debris backward when cleaning hard, bare floors. Besides, its suction can be adjusted with the Carpet Type Control slider; thus, it helps clean shag or medium-pile carpets more effectively.
The CleanView Compact, as I mentioned, does have good suction, so cleaning my low-pile carpet with it is very pleasant. However, on the bare floor, it scatters debris but not too much. It is also not suitable for cleaning long-fiber carpets. All of these disadvantages could be attributed to the impossibility of turning off the brush roll.
They all give nice groom lines on my carpets after I did thorough cleaning tests. However, the nozzle height of these two Bissell vacuums cannot be adjusted (model 3508) or adjusted automatically by an insignificant amount (model 2999). So, it is difficult to utilize on high-pile thick carpets.
Dirt bin & Filtration
Based on the specifications on paper, the MultiClean 2999 has a bit smaller dirt bin capacity than the CleanView Compact. It is quite ridiculous, but the difference is insignificant to be a concern for me.
The big difference here is the filtration system between Bissell CleanView Compact vs MultiClean 2999. The filtration of MultiClean 2999 is a whole way better owing to the nicely sealed HEPA post-motor filter. Combined with multi-filter filtration, the HEPA filter with an allergen seal works perfectly to capture all the dust particles inside the machine instead of spilling them out. Besides, this sealed HEPA system helps reduce the dirt smell from the air emitted significantly.
Design & Convenience

Maneuverability
- Reach range
As the Bissell CleanView Compact design aims at the lightweight factor and compactness, as its name suggests, its hose and electric cord are significantly shorter than those of the MultiClean 2999 model. This means when using the MultiClean 2999, you will have extended reach and don’t have to unplug and replug the cord after one or two minutes of cleaning.
- Swivel steering
The swivel steering is another useful feature of the MultiClean 2999, making it a more advanced model compared to the Bissell CleanView Compact 3508. The swivel head will support you in steering the vacuum around furniture or room corners, which can reduce a significant amount of pressure put on your wrist.
- Weight
For this category, the Bissell CleanView Compact is the winner because it weighs under 8 lbs (7.5 lbs). It is super light and easy to push and pull on different surfaces. Meanwhile, the Bissell MultiClean 2999 is much heavier, about 15 lbs.
But I find a good thing about the heaviness of Bissell MultiClean 2999. It is that this vacuum can stand firmly on the floor, not easily tipping over when I stretch the hose to sweep the above floor.
Utility
Winner: Bissell MultiClean 2999
Attachments
For me, the MultiClean 2999 has greater attachments than the CleanView Compact 3508. If the CleanView Compact has two separate accessories: a crevice tool and a dusting brush, the MultiClean 2999 combines these attachments into one and adds another accessory to the attachment set, the Pet TurboEraser tool.
The Pet TurboEraser tool works properly to clean the sofas for me. As its name suggests, this tool can remove pet hair on carpeted stairs and sofas pretty well. I am really pleased with its performance.
