If you are looking for an upright vacuum cleaner with good performance at a low budget, you should not miss this pair, Bissell 3508 vs Eureka NEU182B. I had the opportunity to experience the two machines and found that the NEU182B was superior to the other.
As one of the best-selling upright vacuums online, the NEU182B truly won my heart. It has strong suction, an XL dust cup, a large range, a compact design, and more. It also is compatible with many surfaces, such as hard floors, low-pile carpets, and high-pile carpets.
As for Bissell 3508, this is an extremely suitable choice for those looking for an ultra-compact machine. It possesses all the basic features of an upright vacuum cleaner, and its price is… “chef’s kiss.”

Bissell 3508 vs Eureka NEU182B: Differences
After reviewing the pros and cons of each machine, I conclude Eureka NEU182B wins 3:0 against Bissell 3508 thanks to its cleaning performance, an xl dust cup, and a large range of operations. To learn more details, read the breakdown below.
cleaning performance
The winner: Eureka NEU182B
Compatible Floor Type
These two machines are compatible with a wide variety of surfaces, for example, hard floors, carpets, rugs, upholstery, and fabric. However, due to the different features, the cleaning performance of the two machines differs a bit.
Specifically, Eureka NEU182B performs better on hard floors and carpets than Bissell 3508, especially in terms of deep cleaning carpets. One of the reasons for this superiority is the 5 height adjustment settings. This machine allows users to clean low to medium-pile carpets, plush, high-pile rugs, shag rugs, and hard floors just by turning the dial on the body. This feature also helps you clean up bigger pieces of debris like Cheerios level.
One inconvenience I found on both machines is that dust and debris are often scattered around before being sucked in by the vacuum cleaner. This is because these machines do not have a brushroll on/off function or include any accessories that reduce dust diffusion around.
Suction Strength
In terms of suction strength, according to the comparison chart above, you can see that the power rating of the Eureka is 8 AMPs, much larger than that of the Bissell (6.2 AMPs). In addition, with the NEU182B, I also measured the amount of suction and airflow at the hose at 61″ and 77.5 CFM, respectively. These numbers are not bad at all, especially compared to other machines in the same price range that I have reviewed previously.
Another point of note is that the cleaning path of the Bissell 3508 is 10 feet, while that of the NEU182B is 12.6 feet. The wider nozzle allows for a wider cleaning range and faster cleaning time.
Noise Level
In my experience, I find both machines equally noisy, but not to the point of making me feel annoyed.
Eureka NEU182B’s noise level is around 82 dB, slightly above average. This sound level can be compared to the noise of a food blender or heavy traffic when you are in a car. This noise level only affects your hearing if you are exposed to it for more than 40 hours per week. How can people use a vacuum cleaner to clean their house 5 hours per day?
With machines in the same price range as these two upright vacuums, such noise levels are acceptable. There are even more expensive machines out there that are just as noisy.
Dirt tank & filter
The winner: Eureka NEU182B
Dirt Tank
In this aspect, the most prominent difference between the two machines is the size of the dirt tank. While the dust cup of the Bissell 3508 is only 1 liter, the dust cup capacity of the Eureka NEU182B is up to 2.6 liters.
Compared to many other upright vacuums that I have known, this dirt tank size is really impressive. An XL dust cup allows the machine to hold more dirt and requires less frequent emptying. For me, this is quite convenient since emptying the trash regularly is annoying, especially when you need to clean up places with a large amount of dirt.
Filter
Given these two machines’ prices, I wouldn’t expect too much from their filters. However, in reality, they do not work badly after all.
Neither machine is equipped with a HEPA filter, which removes up to 99.97% of contaminants 0.3 microns or larger in diameter. Therefore, if you are a person with allergic rhinitis or sinusitis, make sure to wear a mask when using these machines to clean places with high concentrations of airborne dust.
On the plus side, both machines are equipped with a washable filter, which is easy to wash and reuse for subsequent cleanings. Another plus of washable filters is that they don’t get clogged with pet hair like HEPA filters.
Design & Convenience
The winner: Eureka NEU182B
Build Quality
These two machines are about the same size and mainly made of plastic, but Bissell 3508 is almost 3 lbs lighter than Eureka NEU182B.
Assembling these two bagless upright vacuums is really easy. With Bissell 3508, you don’t have to do much, and the only thing to do is plug the handle into the base. With the NEU182B, I don’t even need to preview the instructions provided, and it only takes about 2-3 minutes to assemble some things.
Another convenience that you can find on both machines is all the tools on board. Like on the NEU182B, all the necessary accessories are on board, including an extra-long 7 inches crevice tool, dusting brush, and upholstery tool.
Range
In terms of range, Eureka NEU182B has the upper hand. This machine comes with a 25-feet power cord and a 7-feet hose, which are slightly better than its opponent. The longer the cord and hose, the wider the range of operation, and this is completely beneficial for users, especially when you want to clean high places such as ceilings or places with few electrical outlets.
As for Bissell 3508, this machine employs a 23-feet cord and a 4.5-feet hose. Although the wire and hose length is shorter than the NEU182B, the 3508 is quite light, and you can completely lift it with one hand while the other is used to manipulate the wand.
