Bissell has many similar vacuum lines, making comparing them not much of an easy task. But I have the answer if you are looking for the winner of the debate Bissell 2252 vs 2259. 2259 is the more fitted choice for the winning position!

The winner, Bissell 2259, boasts a longer cord length than 2252 of 27ft and an 8ft hose that allows users to clean further and higher without reaching too much and hurting their wrists. The best convenient aspect of this model is its auto-rewind cord feature. With a touch of a button, I don’t have to fold the cord to put the device away! Regarding cleaning performance, its triple-action brush can reveal, lift, and remove any debris, from pet hair to shredded paper.

Although the Bissell 2252 performs cleaning tasks as well as its opponent, 2259 provides more conveniences, as cited above. However, it is still a highly noteworthy vacuum with standard technological features and an easy-to-decide price tag.

Bissell 2252 vs 2259: Differences

Bissell 2259 wins 1-0 and ties twice against 2252, with its much better value for the price. Both vacuums are affordable, but the former has many more convenient features, like the auto-rewind cord and longer hose and cord length. I trusted my money on this model, which didn’t fail me.

Cleaning performance

Dust and debris

These machines don’t struggle with dust or bigger trash pieces. I have tested their suction power on bare floors and carpets, and it only takes 2 swipes to ensure all the dirt is out of the way. Also, thanks to the triple-action brushroll, debris, and microdust easily get into the intake port, ensuring an efficient cleaning session.

But it’s important to remember that the brushroll doesn’t have a shutoff feature. This is what troubles me when testing against different types of surfaces. Overall, the silky fibers of the brushroll are quite soft, so I’m not worried about them damaging tile or wooden floors. But if your house is paved with sealed wooden floors, consider a model with a shutoff brushroll.

However, adjusting the powerfoot height is possible, which slightly lifts the brushroll from the floor. This can avoid damage, and it’s practical.

Hair

The Bissell 2252 and 2259 have proved effective against hair, especially when the hair is on a low-pile carpet or bare flooring. Moving the vacuum cleaners about and lifting all the hair strands from shaggy fibers is more difficult on high-pile carpets. But the pair does a proper job!

Of course, depending on the hair length, the performance can be very distinctive. For example, vacuums generally do better with short hair strands as they aren’t long enough to wrap around the brushroll, causing clogs and unstable airflow.

In the case of this pair, it’s the same. They are perfectly fine with short hair, amazing if you own dogs or cats that aren’t hairy. On the other hand, long-haired dogs and human hair can clog the intake port or the entrance to the dirt bin if they have to work with a huge load of long hair without having the brushroll cleaned after each session. And with these machines, I have experienced clogs, even though scarcely. So it depends on the workload as well!

Dust and debris filtration

Tie

Using a multicycle filtration system, 2252 and 2259, can ensure that no dust particles escape the exhaust port when we are cleaning. I have personally tested the filters’ performance, and with my sensitive nose, I haven’t had an allergic reaction or constant sneezing with this pair. There is no evidence clearer than that. In addition, the debris filtration is highly functional!

The premotor disk filters are spongy and will require replacement depending on the frequency of your cleaning. I recommend replacement every 6 months to ensure best filtering results. But before the time comes, users can remove and wash them with warm and clear water. Just ensure you don’t install the filters when they are still wet.

Utilities

Winner: Bissell 2259

Bissell 2259 boasts a 27ft cord and 8ft hose. Different from that, the 2252 line comes with a 25ft cord and 6ft hose. So even though the gap isn’t huge, it’s still undeniably more comfortable to work with cords and hoses that offer better reach.

Another genius design aspect I like about 2259 is the cord rewind feature. It retracts the cord, however extended from the frame it is, without requiring users to pick up bits by bits. Instead, the entire cord can be stored in its own section inside the machine, making the overall look much more neat and sleek. I recommend this model for this feature!

Bissell 2252 vs 2259: Similarities

These vacuums have a lot of things in common! Check out 2 aspects that will concern your cleaning experience!

Corded upright vacuum

2252 and 2259 are both corded upright vacuums, which means they have a stable energy resource to back up their cleaning performance. They are versatile in tackling different kinds of debris in different corners of your home, from the floor to the top of your curtain, if you may.

A good variety of accessories come with the vacuums themselves as a set. Users can detach the dirt bin and filtration system from the floor nozzle to work the hose with the other nozzles! The overall design is very convenient for weekly or even daily use.

13.5 inches cleaning path

The 13.5 inches cleaning path is quite standard in the vacuum world. It’s large enough to allow users a comfortable cleaning session without pushing and pulling the vacuums too many times, but not too large that they are too heavy to work with for common users. If you are looking for a family-friendly vacuum, look for one with a path width between 13-15 inches.
