In Shark UZ865H vs IZ862H Stratos comparison, the differences are not significant because they are in the same series IZ800. They are different in colors and the odor neutralizer feature.
The color of Shark IZ862H is Ash Purple, and of Shark UZ865H is Gray. Besides, only the Shark IZ862H has an awesome odor neutralizer feature. So, if you are interested in having a vacuum that can give off a fresh scent in the expelled air, the Shark IZ862H is definitely worth considering.
The Shark IZ862H and UZ865H Stratos give comparable suction power and cleaning efficiency. Owing to the dual brush rollers of a soft brush and powerfins roller, they can pick up different debris sizes and types, from small to big particles and pet hair. They have a self-cleaning brushroll mechanism to reduce tangled hair. Moreover, they have HEPA filtration with Anti-Allergen Complete Seal to capture micro dust excellently. So, these vacuums meet my overall cleaning needs, although it would be beneficial if their battery life was enhanced.

Shark UZ865H Vs IZ862H: Similarities – Honest Review
As mentioned, these two vacuums are nearly identical except for the color and the odor neutralizer cartridge. For the other categories, including the cleaning performance, filtration system, design convenience, and utility, they are similar.
Cleaning performance
The suction of Shark UZ865H and IZ862H is supposed to be similar because on paper, they have the same motor power of 309 W. I measured the airflow of the Shark IZ862 with the cleaner head, and the result was about 42 cfm at the highest setting.
They all have three different suction modes: Eco, Boost, and Clean Sense IQ, but the one I often use is the Clean Sense IQ mode. It is because, in this mode, the suction level of the vacuum is automatically boosted when the cleaner head runs on high dust density. The suction will turn back to a normal level if the floor is clean or has low dust density.
In terms of actual debris pick-up performance, for me, these two vacuums are good at cleaning carpets and hard floors. They are also good for cleaning up long to short pet and human hair. However, they are not ideal for area rugs because their cleaner heads grab the rugs even in low suction mode.
Their all-in-one cleaner head, which includes the soft and powerfins rollers, allows them to collect most of anything on the floors, such as small debris like sand and sugar, dander, pet litter, and larger debris like cereals and kibbles. They are also good for deep cleaning carpets as when I tested them on the medium-pile carpet with embedded sand, the amount of sand they pull up was about 99%-100%!
Besides, as I mentioned, they are great for pet owners due to the strong suction, good pick-up efficiency, and especially the self-cleaning brush rolls. The anti-hair wrap brush rolls work pretty well in the test. After cleaning both short and long strands of hair, I noticed that only the long hair stayed on the roller while the short ones got their way in the dust cup. Moreover, the hair staying on the roller was little, just about 2% of the initial tested amount.
Dust bin & Filtration
The Shark UZ865H and IZ862H models offer ample dust cup capacity, providing approximately 0.72 dry quarts (around 0.68 liters) of space for a single cleaning session.
In addition to their generous dust cup capacity, these vacuums boast an outstanding filtration system. Equipped with a HEPA filter and Anti-Allergen Complete Seal technology, they effectively filter and capture up to 99.99% of microdust and allergens. This feature helps to create a cleaner and healthier living environment, which is a crucial factor for users suffering from asthma and other allergies.
Design & Convenience
Maneuverability
For me, the Shark IZ862H and UZ865H are a bit heavier than other cordless vacuum I have tried. They are about 9 lbs in weight, while the average weight of a cordless vacuum is around 6-7 lbs. However, due to the duo-brushroll system integrated into their cleaner heads, I don’t need to switch heads when transitioning between different surfaces.
The Shark IZ862H and IZ840H can also function as handheld vacuums by detaching the wand and utilizing the provided cleaning tools. This versatility allows for effortless cleaning of stairs and even the interior of a car, requiring less exertion.
Furthermore, both vacuums feature multi-flex technology, enabling the wand to flex and easily reach beneath beds and furniture. This convenience is particularly beneficial for individuals with mobility issues or back problems, as there is no need to bend all the way down while cleaning underneath sofas or other low-lying objects.
Battery
While the manufacturer claims that the Shark Stratos models have a maximum runtime of 50-60 minutes, the actual battery life falls slightly shorter, about 30-45 mins.
Particularly, when the Shark Stratos IZ862H or UZ865H was used with the main floorhead, the longest runtime I could get was approximately 45 minutes in the ECO mode. In the Clean Sense IQ modes, the runtime varied between 25-30 minutes, depending on the level of dustiness on the floors. The Boost mode, on the other hand, provides a battery life of around 10 minutes.
Utility
The Shark Stratos IZ862H and UZ865H both have bright LED headlights on the floor nozzles. LED lights are a useful feature for me because it makes the cleaning performance on bare floors more satisfying. They help reveal the uncleaned areas effectively and also lighten up the dark areas under furniture.
In terms of attachment, both of them have the same accessory set, including a Duster Crevice Tool and an Anti-Allergen Brush. Their versatile duster crevice tool combines the functionalities of a dusting brush and a crevice tool, which I found very useful and effective for cleaning cracks, crevices, and flat surfaces such as tables and blinds. Thus, either Shark IZ862H or UZ865H provides all the necessary tools for my daily cleaning needs.
