Tineco A11 Hero EX vs Pure One S11 – Tineco is renowned for breathing fresh, innovative life into home electrical appliances, with vacuum cleaners as their crowning glory. Despite being a big name in the high-tech industry, Tineco didn’t price its products sky-high. Instead of charging an arm and a leg for their products, Tineco lowers the price to sell more.

Today, I’m going to dive deep into a side-by-side comparison of the Tineco A11 Hero Ex and the Tineco Pure One S11 – two models that have stolen the hearts of many users, particularly those looking for a bang for their buck.

Tineco A11 Hero EX Vs Pure One S11: Differences

This is a truly neck-and-neck contest – neither contender becomes the overall winner. Keep reading to see more!

Battery Life

Winner: Tineco A11 Hero EX

The official Tineco website boldly claims that these models can run for a full hour non-stop. But my personal experience suggests that to hit that sweet sixty, you need to use the vacuum with a suction-only tool and set it to the lowest power setting. Indeed, after giving each of these a test with the floorhead, I found they fell short of the promised battery life. Here’s what I got:

Tineco A11 Hero EXPure One S11
Minimum Battery Life≈ 7 mins≈ 11 mins
Maximum Battery Life≈ 31 mins≈ 29 mins
Charging Time≈ 3.5 hours≈ 3.5 hours

As you can see, when paired with the floorhead, both machines drain the battery very quickly. Luckily, they come with removable batteries, so it’s a smart move to keep a spare one in your arsenal, which is especially needed if you are dwelling in a sprawling apartment.

As mentioned above, the A11 Hero EX comes with two removable 2500mAh lithium-ion batteries, while the Pure One S11 includes one. You can easily buy a spare battery for the second one on Amazon or Tineco’s official website.

User Interface

Smart, high-tech displays are increasingly popular in the realm of stick vacuum cleaners. As a titan constantly on the cutting edge of technology, Tineco isn’t sitting on the sidelines. The Pure One S11 is equipped with a large circle LED screen that sits on top of the handheld part. It struck me as a close cousin of the Dyson V15’s LCD display, albeit with slightly less modernity.

This handy display served as my great personal assistant during vacuuming, alerting me whenever the brush roll got tangled, the airflow was blocked, the dust sensor needed to be cleaned, or the vacuum synced with WiFi. The best part? It comes with a loop that color-shifts based on the real-time dust concentration in any given area. I found this feature to be very helpful, as it let me know when I should spend more time vacuuming an area and when to leave.

The only chink in this screen’s armor is its inability to display the battery level – this role is taken by a trio of small LEDs perched on the battery itself.

Mode

Another ace up the sleeve of the Pure One S11 is the auto mode, where it can automatically flex its suction based on the actual dust density detected by the iLoop dust sensor.

This auto feature can also be found in Dyson’s latest models, but the Pure One S11 is even ahead of the game because its auto mode is available with whatever attachments are used. Meanwhile, as for Dyson sticks, this feature can only be enabled when pairing the vacuum with a motorized tool.

App Connectivity

Another special feature that the Pure One S11 brings to the table is the ability to connect to a smartphone via the Tineco app. I could monitor real-time details like battery level, filter condition, dustbin status, and more through the app. The icing on the cake? It allowed me to tweak the vacuum’s suction to my liking simply by sliding a slider back and forth – akin to adjusting the brightness level on my iPhone.

These machines must be parked in the included wall-mounted charging station for charging and storage. It has a dedicated charging slot for the backup battery, allowing for two batteries to get juiced up simultaneously.  On the downside, the wall mount only has room for three attachments, meaning you need to scout out another home for the remainder – that is a minor fly in the ointment.

Cleaning Performance

When it came to hard floors, these machines effortlessly removed all the tiny, fine debris on the first pass. However, they pushed a large amount of bulky debris around instead of picking it up because their LED multi-tasker power brush couldn’t accommodate the clearance needed to sweep over such particles.

It’s worth highlighting that opting for either the Tineco A11 Tango or the Tineco Pure One S11 Tango comes with an added perk – a soft roller attachment known as the Full-size LED Soft-roller Power Brush. This handy accessory excels at picking up all types of debris, including larger particles, on hard floors.

Fortunately, they performed better on my carpets. Almost all the debris, including larger particles, was picked up on the first pass. Only a minor amount of deep-seated debris remained and was collected in subsequent passes.

For the hair test, a moderate amount of long hair stayed on their roller, which is typical for models without anti-tangle technology. Thankfully, removing the roller from the floorhead is a breeze with the help of a coin, allowing for easy untangling of the roller using either the hair-cleaning tool or a sharp pair of scissors.

Weight & Maneuverability

The Tineco A11 Hero EX vs Pure One S11 register fairly light on the scales, weighing in at roughly 5 pounds and 5.7 pounds, respectively. The weight difference between the two is insignificant, and maneuvering them is extremely easy, thanks to their rotating heads. I noticed they couldn’t make sharp turns as well as Dyson sticks, but that wasn’t a big deal.

In the handheld configuration, these machines are as light as feathers, making them ideal for cleaning overhead or hard-to-reach areas. Even if you’re not as strong as the Hulk or aren’t used to lifting heavy burdens, I’d stake my claim that you can still use either of them to clean the ceiling for a long time without hand fatigue.

Dustbin & Filtration System

The Tineco A11 Hero Ex vs Pure One S11 share a 0.6-liter dustbin. In the stick vacuum world, this dust cup is in the middle of the capacity spectrum – not too small but not too large. Emptying it is very easy: just push a button to open the bottom door, and gravity will pull the collected dust and dirt down. I had to poke inside to dig out clogged hair and debris by hand, which is a common problem.

Another shared feature among these machines is the fully-sealed HEPA filtration system, which is a panacea for those battling intense allergies. A sealed system prevents unfiltered air filled with dirt and allergens from escaping before passing through the filters. No matter how good a vacuum cleaner performs and how great its filtration system is, the absence of such a sealed setup would be a big con.

The filtration system comprises a pre-motor filter and a post-motor (HEPA) filter. The pre-filter can be cleaned hands-free using the pre-filter cleaning attachment, which utilizes the vacuum’s suction to remove all the accumulated dust and dirt. It is the first line of defense, so it will need to be cleaned more frequently, ideally after each use. As for the post-motor (HEPA) filter, it should be rinsed under the tap at least every three months.

Control Method

Like Dyson sticks, this duo also has a power pistol-like trigger, but there is an option for you to lock the trigger, sparing you the hand fatigue of holding it down incessantly. That way, your hands won’t tire, leading to more comfortable long cleaning sessions.
