Shark HV301 vs HV302: Both of these two vacuum cleaners belong to the same Shark Rocket line – one of the most cutting-edge and well-liked lines of Shark.

They are pretty much the same models. They differ only in weight, cleaning path wide, and included attachments.

Although the distinctions are minor, I think you should still read this article to see how they may influence your purchase decision.

Shark HV301 vs HV302: Differences

Both the Shark HV301 and the Shark HV302 are excellent options; the distinctions listed below do not prove that one is superior to the other. The only exception is that the more expensive HV302 model is worth it if your cleaning tasks include cleaning cars. For more information, keep reading.

Weight

Shark Rocket HV301 has an overall weight of 7.6 pounds, while the Shark Rocket HV302 weighs 8.3 pounds. In comparison to the Shark HV302, the Shark HV301 is more lightweight. Obviously, this is a major distinction between these two Shark stick vacuums.

The top-heavy design makes them uncomfortable to use in handheld mode, especially for the elderly or those with a weak grip.

Cleaning Path Width

The Shark HV301 has a wider cleaning path when its length is 10 inches, compared to the 8.5 inches of the Shark HV302.

The narrower cleaning path can help Shark HV302 easily maneuver into tight places. But the Shark HV301’s wider one can make cleaning a little faster.

Attachments

Both include similar attachments include:

  • 5″ Crevice Tool
  • Dusting Brush
  • Upholstery Tool
  • Hard Floor Hero™ Attachment
  • Accessory Bag
  • Wall Mount Storage Hook

However, the HV302 has an additional attachment that sets it apart. It has a Car Detail Kit, but Shark HV301 does not. This is so effective that I can use it to clean my car inside and out in only a few minutes. This accessory kit contributes to Shark HV302’s higher price tag.

So what can we draw from here? If your cleaning tasks include vacuuming in the car, the Shark HV302 will be the more appropriate choice.

Shark HV301 vs HV302: Similarity

Cleaning Performance

The cleaning effectiveness of either of these vacuums is unaffected by the minor variances between them. The remaining aspects are the same. So you can expect them to perform the same in every cleaning task.

For cleaning the hard floors, I don’t have any trouble picking up my pet hair or small debris. However, no vacuum cleaner is perfect. While pet hair definitely won’t be an issue, long human hair can become a tangled mess. Sometimes the roller would throw litter, and I’d have to go over the same spot again.

On low-pile carpets, these Shark models can easily pick up both small and large debris and pet hair. However, smaller debris sometimes gets stuck in the floorhead’s wheels, so it moves not smoothly.

The Shark HV301 and HV302 are equally effective on high-pile carpets. Vacuums do a good job with pet hair and larger debris, but they have difficulties with small particles and often require many passes to clean up.

They have specific modes for cleaning each type of floor (the “I” setting is for hard floors, low-pile carpets, and the “II” setting is for high-pile carpet). However, these adjust the speed of the motorized floor brush (when attached) instead of changing suction power or cleaning head height, so these vacuums might still get stuck on denser carpets.

Design

For me, portability and lightweight are the most fundamental requirements for a stick vacuum. This is something that is guaranteed by the fact that both of these vacuum cleaners weigh less than 10 pounds each. I did not get fatigued at all from holding them in my hands while completing the cleaning.

The compact, well-organized design is also highly practical and easy to store. It will fit beneath the bed or in the closet without taking up much room. The wheels and swivel head design also make them easy to maneuver.

But it usually topples over, so it would be nice if they could stand on their own. What a pain. I can’t explain it, but perhaps it’s because all the weight is at the top.

Alternative Configuration

Shark HV301 vs HV302 can be used as a handheld vacuum
Shark HV301 vs HV302 can be used as a handheld vacuum

Both can easily switch between two configurations: upright and handheld. It doesn’t take much time or effort to make the switch. You may easily modify it for use on different surfaces. All of the attachments also work with the handheld configuration. Therefore, it will increase productivity while saving time spent completing the tasks.

Cleaning Reach

The power cord is 30 feet long, allowing for a big area to be cleaned while still being connected to a single electrical outlet. These vacuums don’t have a power cord automatic rewind, so you have to wrap it manually around cord hooks on the side of the vacuum.

Thanks to this long, you can move around without worrying about losing power. It would be nice if the cord could be removed from the unit so that the dustbin could be cleaned more easily.

Filtration Systems

Although these vacuums do a decent job of filtering the air, they are not true HEPA vacuums, which are essential for anyone with asthma, allergies, or related health problems. Their filter systems include foam and felt filters; both can be washed in clean water after usage.  Cleaning the filters on a regular basis is something that I find to be really annoying and messy just because I’m lazy. LOL!

The filters should always be completely dry before being put back into the vacuums. In addition to this, the vacuum should never be used without the air filters installed. If you want to be absolutely certain about how to care for your vacuum, refer to the manual or instructions that came with it.
