They are truly outstanding vacuums when you take into account cleaning performance and ease of use. I also give props to their DuoClean technology, which includes two rollers, and MultiFlex technology, which makes it easier to store and go under furniture. There are also a few things I don’t like about them, such as the fact that they are quite heavy and their dust cups are on the small side.

The Shark Vertex IZ662H wins 1-0 against the IZ462H. The only thing that makes the IZ662H the overall winner, as mentioned above, is that it is equipped with an IQ display that shows the battery life percentage.
User Interface
Winner: Shark Vertex IZ662H
Turning the IZ462H on and off and switching between two vacuum modes (carpet and hard floor) is easy with a slider on the handle. Also, there is a pistol-like trigger used to maximize suction to tackle stubborn messes.
The IZ662H, on the other hand, is a bit more “modern,” with an IQ display that indicates battery level in percentage and showcases the suction level and floor type setting selected via two buttons on either side of the on/off button. I give the nod to this one, as it tells me when I need to give the vacuum a charge.

Cleaning Head
There is no denying that the DuoClean floorhead is the biggest selling point of the Shark Vertex models. It includes two rollers to maximize cleaning performance on all surfaces: a soft roller to clean hard floors without scratching them and a spiral rubberized roller to dig deep into carpets and capture any deep-seated dust and dirt. This technology clearly makes the Shark Vertex much better than vacuums with standard bristles, such as the Shark IF281.
Frankly, I have only ever seen this floorhead on Shark models, so it is no exaggeration to say that the DuoClean technology is a hallmark of this brand. The Samsung Bespoke Jet also comes with a dual roller, but the soft roller doesn’t actively spin since it is non-motorized, which affects the cleaning performance on hard floors more or less.
Better yet, PowerFins technology also makes Shark Vertex vacuums pioneers in the anti-hair wrap movement. Some silicone fins alternate with each other, ensuring that human/pet hair doesn’t get wrapped around the roller. Shark also has another technology to reduce the hair wrap issue called Zero-M, which can be found on the ZS350 and many other Shark models.
Cleaning Performance
The DuoClean technology is truly a bomb on hard floors. It helped these Shark Vertex vacuums collect 98-99% of total debris in a single pass, which is among the best scores for cord-free vacs. My examinations showed these machines easily swept large debris instead of pushing it forward while maintaining a good seal to prevent smaller debris from splattering around.
On my low-pile carpet, the previous machines still got excellent scores, with no less than 96% of the total debris captured in the forward pass. On my high pile carpet, the overall scores dropped to about 91-92%: they picked up all large debris (such as cereal) and left behind a moderate amount of fine and smaller ones (such as sugar and coffee grounds).
I also tested whether the self-cleaning roller really worked or was just a gimmick, and, fortunately, it satisfied me. Of course, nothing in life is perfect, and this technology is no exception. There was a small amount of long hair, somewhere longer than 10 inches (my wife’s, I guess), wrapped around the roller. The roller isn’t removable, but I could access and untangle it with just a coin.

It is reasonably easy to store the Shark IZ462H vs IZ662H since they can stand upright without leaning against a wall or relying on a wall-mountable dock/stand, thanks to MultiFlex technology. This is basically a large hinge on the wand that allows it to be easily folded in half to collapse the vacuum’s vertical footprint for compact storage.
My only complaint is that there’s no onboard storage for attachments. I prefer how Dyson allows the user to put two accessories on the vacuum’s body via the wand clip.
Weight & Maneuverability
The lightweight stick vacuums, to my mind, are something lighter than 7 pounds. With that in mind, the Shark IZ462H vs IZ662H are on the heavy side (9.02 and 8.95 pounds, respectively). Maneuvering them isn’t really a workout, but my arms are tired after about half an hour, and I bet not many folks can push them with just one hand.
Like the Dyson V15 and many other traditional stick vacuums, the motor and dust cup are at the handle. But their weight is well-balanced thanks to the DuoClean powerhead – most of the weight is on the floor instead of the user’s hand.
They are also designed to quickly switch back and forth between a default stick vacuum and a portable handheld vacuum. All of the accessories can be connected to or disconnected from the wand with the push of a button.
The pivoting head allows the Shark Vertex to get in and out of hard-to-reach areas easily, and MultiFlex technology makes it easy to go further under stuff without bending over. These are pretty unique features, and I would be happy to see them included in future models.

Shark claims that these models can run continuously for more than 60 minutes between charges. Still, many users have been extremely frustrated that their vacuums run out of juice much faster than that. To avoid this misunderstanding, Shark should mention that the advertised battery life is only true if the vacuum is operated with a non-motorized attachment. This could also be just a gimmick of this brand and many others.
These machines use removable batteries, so it is easy to make them run longer by buying an extra battery. These batteries can be charged independently without being installed into the vacuum. So I could vacuum with an installed battery while the other got charged by being directly connected to the charger.
Dust Cup & Filtration System
The Shark IZ462H vs IZ662H shares a 0.32-liter dust cup, resulting in more frequent stops to the trash can to empty. Fortunately, emptying the dustbin was super easy and required minimal interaction with dust and dirt: just push down a lever. I also like that it is detachable, making it easier to deep clean.
The last thing they have in common is a filtration system with pre-filters (foam and felt) and a HEPA post-filter. All these filters are washable: two pre-filters should preferably be washed monthly, while the HEPA filter should preferably be rinsed annually. The sealed system prevents allergens from getting back into the air.
