After thorough testing and consideration, I have concluded that both the Shark HV301 vs CS110 have unique strengths, making it difficult to declare a clear winner between the two.
The Shark HV301 is a great option for those looking for a vacuum cleaner with a canister on top. Despite its top-heavy design, it is relatively easy to maneuver and navigate around furniture and obstacles. Its impressive suction power and affordable price tag are also noteworthy features.
On the other hand, the Shark CS110‘s pivoting head makes it easy to clean around furniture and other obstacles. Additionally, its detachable head can be hung on a storage hook at the bottom of the stick, making it easy to store. Besides, the compact design and good performance on most surfaces make it a great option for those looking for a versatile vacuum cleaner.

Shark HV301 Vs CS110: Differences
Based on my test, Shark HV301 and CS110 are tied due to their similar performance and features. Both offer strong suction power, lightweight designs, and a wide range of accessories. Ultimately, it comes down to the user’s preference for design and features.
Cleaning performance
The winner: Shark HV371
Firstly, the Shark HV301 model is a powerful vacuum cleaner that packs a punch despite its size. It’s able to pick up virtually everything in its path, although I did notice that the motorized floor brush tended to fling out particles. Following the instructions, I switched to the low-speed setting, which proved helpful in addressing this issue.
However, it did struggle to pick up small particles, such as cat litter, but it was so lightweight and easy to maneuver that I didn’t mind making a few passes in the same area. On hardwood and laminate surfaces, it performs decently but struggles with small particles.
If you have deep pile area rugs, you may need to apply more downward pressure on the motorized sweeper head to get the brushes deeper into the pile, but it should do a great job at cleaning the rug of all debris. That being said, it works well on carpets, stone, and vinyl flooring.
Next, the Shark CS110 model is equipped with good suction power and can pull in dirt and dust bunnies before they even hit the ground. It’s also incredibly versatile, able to transition seamlessly from tile to carpet with just the flip of a button, which is super convenient.
As someone who vacuums my floors at least once a day, I was pleasantly surprised at how much this little vacuum could pull out of my carpets – the container was almost full!
It also works well on hardwood, although I noticed that dog hairs tend to get stuck on the outside of the brushes. However, this is understandable, given that I have a thick-haired dog. What’s great is that it can handle pine needles, which I often have tracked into my house, without scattering them all over the place.
Design and convenience
Tie!
Dimension and weight
Shark HV301 boasts dimensions of 10.5 inches in length, 9.8 inches in width, and a towering 46 inches in height, weighing in at a relatively light 7.6 pounds. On the other hand, we have the Shark CS110, which measures 28.1 inches in length, 11 inches in width, and 8.4 inches in height, with a slightly heavier weight of 9 pounds.
Regarding their respective features, the Shark HV301 presents a relatively lightweight design and a towering frame, which may prove useful for reaching those hard-to-get spots. However, its narrow width may present some limitations, particularly in tight spaces.
Alternatively, the Shark CS110 is a more compact unit with a broader width, which may make it ideal for navigating around furniture or other obstacles. However, its heavier weight may prove cumbersome for some users.
Maneuverability
The HV301 has a canister that sits on top, which makes it pretty top-heavy. Unfortunately, this was a bit of a problem for me since I have arthritis in my wrist. It felt like I was doing wrist curls with too much weight! Despite this, it was still easy to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles.
On the contrary, the CS110 is also a little heavy on top and doesn’t stand up on its own. But I found a neat little trick – if you disconnect the head and hang it on the storage hook at the bottom of the stick, it will stand up by itself. Plus, the pivoting head makes it super easy to get under furniture and around any obstacles in your path.
Utility
The winner: Shark HV301
Regarding attachments, Shark HV301 comes with an upholstery tool, hard bristle brush, and crevice tool, while Shark CS110 only has a crevice tool.
Now, let’s delve deeper into the details of each attachment. The upholstery tool and hard bristle brush of the HV301 are useful for cleaning furniture and other upholstered surfaces. The crevice tool is great for getting into tight spaces, such as corners or between furniture. The HV301’s attachments are versatile and can clean a variety of surfaces, which is great if you have a diverse set of cleaning needs.
In contrast, the Shark CS110 only has a crevice tool. The crevice tool is a narrow attachment that can fit into tight spaces like corners, edges, and gaps between furniture. While it may be useful for specific cleaning tasks, it is limited in its application.
