Tineco S12 vs Dyson V15: The overall winner is the significantly cheaper model – The Tineco S12.
The Tineco Pure One S12 completely outperforms the Dyson V15 in nearly every aspect (except hard floor cleaning). If you spend extra bucks for the Tineco Pure One S12 Plus version (which I highly recommend), you’ll get a soft roller that’s designed to clean hard floors.
Even though the Dyson V15 couldn’t win this match, it’s always been one of my favorites. It performs great on all types of surfaces, is compact, easy to maneuver, and comes with a great set of attachments. But it is costly, so it can make many people scared.
Tineco S12 Vs Dyson V15: Comparison Chart
Tineco S12 Vs Dyson V15: Differences
The Tineco Pure One S12 wins the Dyson V15 with a score of 3-1. That said, the Tineco Pure One S12 almost beat its rival in every respect. The only category that it loses is cleaning hard floors.
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Dyson V15
Hard Floors
The Dyson V15 comes with a Laser Slim Fluffy floorhead, which is essentially designed specifically for cleaning hard floors. So it wasn’t surprising that this model could pass all my flooring tests with flying colors. Even better, it includes a green laser light, which is a game-changer when vacuuming in areas where the ceiling lights don’t shine enough or where there are a lot of shadows because of the interior.
The Tineco Pure One S12 was able to completely remove all small to medium debris in a flash with the maximum suction power setting. However, for larger debris, such as cereals and fruit rings, this model just pushed them forward instead of sucking them up since they were too tall to be swept under the floorhead. Of course, I could get the job done by reconfiguring it into a handheld vacuum and using the crevice tool or soft dusting brush.
Note that the version that I tested is the Tineco Pure One S12 standard version. The Tineco Pure One S12 Plus version comes with a soft roller head, similar to the Dyson V15, which is expected to be able to remove 100% of the large debris from hard surfaces.
Carpets
This was where both the Tineco S12 vs Dyson V15 shone.
Unlike its decent performance on hard floors, the Tineco S12 was even able to completely remove large debris from both low- and high-pile carpets at the maximum suction power mode. This is unusual for many stick vacuums because high-pile carpets typically feature more dense fibers, while debris tends to sink deep into the carpet, making it difficult to remove it completely.
The Dyson V15, with the High Torque 2.0 floorhead, also performed great on these surfaces. But it is worth noting that I had to adjust a slider on the floorhead to be able to deal with large debris or move more freely. Unlike the Laser Slim Fluffy Floorhead, it doesn’t have any laser headlight at all.
Hair
The Tineco S12 vs Dyson V15 are neck and neck regarding picking up hair on surfaces. But after testing, I noticed a small amount of hair getting stuck around the roller of the first one. Thankfully, it can be easily removed from the floorhead for untangling and cleaning.
The Dyson V15’s High Torque 2.0 head, on the other hand, features an anti-twist system, which is essentially a comb to help reduce tangled hair. Did it completely remove the hair from the roller? No, but it worked.
Design And Usability
Winner: Tineco Pure One S12
Dimensions And Storage
The dimensions of the Tineco S12 vs Dyson V15 are 44 x 10.3 x 8.8 inches and 49.6 x 10.5 x 9.8 inches, respectively. As you can see, the Dyson V15 is taller and features a wider nozzle, making it ideal for tall people and able to cover the same area faster.
These machines are cordless, and both come with wall-mountable charging docks. The Dyson V15’s dock has room for two attachments, while the Tineco S12’s can house the extension pole, the floor head attached, and three smaller accessories. That said, there are many other add-ons that need to be put somewhere.
The Dyson V15, combined with a clip wand, can store two tools on board. Meanwhile, there is no clip-on adaptor for the Tineco S12, so you can’t carry any accessories with you.
Weight And Maneuverability
The Tineco S12 weighs in at about 6.35 pounds, while the Dyson V15 is a bit heavier at 6.8 pounds. They are generally light, and I didn’t really feel this 0.45-pound difference in my hand.
In terms of maneuverability, the Dyson V15 excels thanks to the swivel head, which makes turning on a dime a breeze. On the flip side, the Tineco S12 doesn’t have this mechanism, so I couldn’t navigate it by twisting my wrist when vacuuming in tight spaces or under furniture.
Battery Life
Tineco S12 | Dyson V15 | |
Minimum battery life | 9 mins | 8 mins |
Maximum battery life | 48 mins | 71 mins |
Charging Time | 3.25 hours | 3.3 hours |
The Tineco S12 is packed with two 2500mAh batteries, meaning I got up to almost 100 minutes of operation, which is more than enough for most users’ needs. The Dyson V15 only comes with a single 3600 mAh seven-cell battery, and I highly recommend buying an additional battery to limit downtime.
The Tineco S12’s wall-mounted dock includes a battery charger and can charge both the battery in the vacuum and the spare one. It will prioritize the battery in the vacuum before charging the other.
Dust Chamber Capacity And Filters
Winner: Tineco Pure One S12
The Tineco S12 features a 0.6-liter dust bin, which is a bit small, but emptying it is a breeze with the press of a button. The pre-filter is located inside it, so a few larger pieces got stuck, and I had to give it a tug to remove everything. Remember that this dust cup uses an electrical component, so never rinse it with water.
The Dyson V15’s dust chamber is slightly larger, with a capacity of 0.75 liters. It’s not removable, but emptying it is also child’s play. There is a lever on the side of the cup, and you need to grasp it to make some up-and-down movements to empty it. I also had to remove tangled hair and large debris by hand, so the term “contact-free” is an exaggeration.
The Dyson V15 has only one HEPA filter (the version I am referring to is Absolute), while the Tineco S12 has several filters, including the HEPA one. But instead of being hand washed like with the Dyson V15’s filter, all the Tineco S12’s filters can be rinsed automatically by putting in a powered self-cleaning filter tool, attaching it to the suction slot, and switching on the unit for seconds. It is a nice feature that I haven’t seen before on other stick vacuums.
Utilities And Special Features
Winner: Tineco Pure One S12
On/Of Stringer
As with many other cordless vacuum cleaners, the Tineco S12 vs Dyson V15 share a pistol-like trigger switch, and they operate only if you press this trigger. But the former has a switch that locks the power on, which is helpful for vacuuming larger areas.
Display Screen
Tineco S12 features a large circular LED display that shows all the information about your vacuuming process, filter maintenance alerts, and other performance specs. It shows the battery life in percent instead of estimated remaining minutes, as the Dyson V15 does, and can highlight if a blockage occurs. There is also an outside ring that will turn red if the vacuum is sucking up dirt and switch to blue once your house gets cleaner.
On the other hand, the Dyson V15 has a circular LCD screen that shows particulate data (how many and what size dust particles the machine picks up), cleaning mode, estimated remaining run time, and maintenance alerts. This model can count vacuumed dust particles and classify them into four sizes thanks to an onboard piezo sensor. I consider it a nice-to-have feature instead of a must-have one because it isn’t really helpful for me.
Wifi & App Connection
The Tineco S12 can connect to wifi to show cleaning performance, battery details, and filter maintenance directly on your smartphone via the Tineco app. You can even adjust the suction power via the app, which seems like a redundant and odd thing to do since you already have the controls at your fingertips. To connect to the wifi for the first time, it is essential to remove the dust canister to reach the wifi button.
Attachments
Both the Tineco S12 vs Dyson V15 have no shortage of additional accessories that are available at no extra charge, making them great for value. Their sets of attachments aren’t exactly the same, but they’re all great in one way or another and more than enough for everyone’s cleaning needs.
