Roomie Tec Alpha Professional vs Dyson Ball Animal: I strongly recommend spending extra bucks to buy the Dyson Ball Animal, although the other is also well worth it.
The Dyson Ball Animal is costly, but it’s totally worth the cash. Its suction is no joke, allowing it to suck things easily on any surface. But some of the things I consider cons are that it’s heavy, bulky, lacks LED headlights, and is difficult to maneuver on thick carpets.
The Roomie Tec Alpha Professional is ideal for those who don’t want to break the bank for a vacuum and are looking for something good enough for their daily cleaning chores. In terms of bells and whistles, it even outshines the winner.

Roomie Tec Alpha Professional vs Dyson Ball Animal: Differences
The Dyson Ball Animal wins 2-1 and draws once against the Roomie Tec. When buying a vacuum cleaner, suction typically comes first, and if that’s all you care about, the Dyson Ball Animal won’t let you down. But it’s heavy and hard to maneuver, not to mention the lack of LED headlights, which I consider a must-have.
Cleaning Performance
Winner: Dyson Ball Animal
The Roomie Tec Alpha Professional features three suction settings: low, medium, and high. It generated good suction in low to medium settings, but I had to make more than one pass on my bare floor to get everything up. To work more effectively on my floor and low-pile carpet, it needed to be set to the maximum suction setting.
Roomietec says this vacuum is good for any surface, but that’s an exaggeration. On my pile-high carpet, it still worked but wasn’t effective. A pile-high carpet requires a brush to beat the fibers and release deep debris from the carpet. Unfortunately, the Roomie Tec Alpha Professional only comes with a foam roller, which is useless for this.
The Roomie Tec Alpha Professional also did an okay job picking up hair and fur on the floor but left lines of hair behind on my carpet. There was only a small amount of hair that stayed on its soft roller at the end of the day, and removing them was not a pain.
On the flip side, the Dyson Ball Animal 2 made me gasp in shock at how strong its suction was. It sucked up debris and hair like crazy from my bare floors and low-pile carpets, and almost nothing was left after the first pass. Of course, I still did an extra pass to ensure nothing was left on the surface.
The Dyson’s suction is strong but isn’t adjustable, and the only thing you can do is turn its roller on or off. This is bad news for those with many high-pile carpets in their houses. In my case, it sucked so hard that I believed that if I weren’t strong enough, I would give up pushing it.
It was more effective at picking up hair, but I had to remove tangles from its roller frequently, or it would slow down over time and stop one day. It also came with a tangle-free turbine tool, which I found quite helpful for hair removal.

Weight and Maneuverability
The Dyson Ball Animal is very heavy at 17 lbs. Even with the ball-shaped mechanism between the floorhead and body, pushing the machine is an uninteresting experience, and carrying it up and down stairs can be an impossible task for many people. If you have arthritic, back, or arm issues, its heavy weight can turn cleaning from a chore into a punishment for you, so you should look for another vacuum cleaner. This machine is also quite bulky, so it will take up a lot of storage space and cannot go further under furniture.
The Roomie Tec weighs less than 7 lbs, which is very light in weight and easy to handle. Its gravity center was lowered near the ground, so it felt very lightweight in my hand. I tried leaving it to stand up by itself in the middle of the vacuuming process, and it did. So I didn’t need to drill and mount a bracket on a wall to store it. Just let it rest on the charging base for storage, and it will be recharged to be ready for the next vacuuming session.
Coverage
You can reach anywhere in your house to clean, but don’t get too far from the charging base since it will run out of battery faster than expected. If set to the highest suction setting, the Roomie Tec can last 15 minutes, while it can work continuously for about 20 minutes if the medium suction setting is used. I believe it can work much longer if you use the lowest suction setting, but honestly, nobody uses it. The recharge time is somewhere between 5 and 6 hours, which is long. It’s not a big deal if its battery is replaceable, but it’s not.
As for the Dyson Ball Animal, it gave me a great range with a 35-foot power cord. With this length, I didn’t need to use an extension cord anymore. But I would be much happier if it were retractable instead of having to bend over and roll it manually. Trust me, and your back won’t like this!
Dust Cup Capacity and Filters
Winner: Dyson Ball Animal
When buying a vacuum, one of the things I focus on the most is the dust cup capacity, which refers to how much dust and dirt it can hold before it needs to be emptied. The larger the cup, the less often it needs to be emptied, resulting in a lower chance of re-exposure to allergens.
It is a no-brainer that an upright vacuum always has a larger cup compared to a stick one. The Dyson Ball Animal takes the lead with a 1.2-liter dust canister, while the Roomie Tec only holds a maximum of 0.5 liters of dirt.
About the filter system, both have a washable HEPA filter. So if you or anyone in your family has asthma triggered by allergies, these machines will have you covered.

Alternative Configuration
Shark vacuums are known for having a feature called “Lift Away” that lets them change into semi-handheld machines. Dyson uprights, on the other hand, don’t have this option. Instead, you can use its hose/wand to clean stairs, remove cobwebs from ceilings, and vacuum hard-to-reach areas. Deploying its hose has a learning curve and can be awkward for you at first.
The Roomie Tec Alpha Professional is a 2-in-1 vacuum. Apart from its traditional stick configuration, you can use it as a handheld vacuum. But it couldn’t reach elevated areas like a bookshelf or a ceiling.
LED Headlights
There are several LED bulbs on the floorhead of the Roomie Tec Alpha Professional. You’ll never know how much you love this feature if you’ve never vacuumed in an area without a proper light source. LED headlights are also something that all the Dyson uprights lack. Hey Dyson, for the money you’re asking for your uprights, let’s put some light bulbs on their heads!
