Is it worth investing in a low-price Dyson vacuum? Well, at least one of these two vacuums is highly affordable for Dyson’s criteria! Check out my comparison of Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin vs 2, 2 classic vacuum models by the famous brand! After testing their performance and comparing their features and prices, I decided to side with the cheaper option, Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin!
Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin features a Radial Root Cyclone technology that accumulates air to deliver a 181AW suction at the cleaner head. Its maneuverability is great on bare floors and low-pile carpets, enabling the removal of pet hair and small trash. In addition, it boasts a 35 ft power cord and an extra 15 ft hose (without counting the additional crevice tool’s length). If you need a powerful vacuum with good suction and an affordable price, this one is a must!
The Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 is a newer model designed for cleaning carpets, hard floors, and other surfaces. Like the Origin, it features a ball technology that allows easy maneuverability, a powerful motor, and a HEPA filtration system. It has an equally potent suction power as well. Unfortunately, it loses the round because of its short cord, smaller dust bin, and higher price.

Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin vs 2: Differences
Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin wins 2-1 and ties once against Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2. The former boasts a longer hose reach and power cord, which is highly convenient when cleaning larger houses. It also boasts amazing suction power, making it a great enemy for dust and pet hair. Of course, each model has its pros and cons. So check out my full review to know both the good and bad sides.
Cleaning performance

Bare floors
One of the main features that makes the Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin and Multi Floor 2 effective on bare floors is their powerful suction. The vacuum’s advanced cyclone technology and powerful motor work together to create strong suction that can easily lift dirt, dust, and debris from bare floors. This means that even small dirt or dust particles won’t be left behind, leaving your floors looking clean and polished.
But there is a catch here! Despite the variable cleaning head that can adjust automatically on both devices, their floor nozzle technically has a low profile. This means it’s hard for large trash pieces to pass through the intake port since the lowest part of the nozzle already blocks the pieces.
Of course, cleaning larger trash pieces with a combination or crevice tool is still possible. But I think users should keep this detail in mind when choosing one of these models. They are better designed for dust and small debris than larger trash pieces. For example, large cheerios or dried vegetable pieces may not be their best bets.
Carpets
Since the brushrolls of these vacuums have soft nylon bristles, they are very effective at picking up dirt and pet hair from low-pile carpets. In fact, I find them clean the best on this material. On bare floors, the suction can be so great that it makes the devices move on their own or push microdust away. But on low-pile carpets and rugs, they grip very well.
As for high-pile carpets, I struggle a bit with these vacuums due to the low profile and the mighty suction power itself. It’s possible, but the grip isn’t the most comfortable to work with. I have tried pushing the vacuum forward only because it’s usually easier to maneuver in the forward motion. Still, sometimes the shaggy fibers or wools of the carpets get caught up in the roller or the intake port entrance.
Filtration system
Winner: Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2
The Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 and Origin feature a whole-machine HEPA filtration system that captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, including pollen, dust mites, and pet dander. This means that the air that is expelled from the vacuums is much cleaner and healthier for people with allergies or sensitivities.
What makes the difference is that the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 has been certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) as asthma and allergy-friendly, indicating that it has been rigorously tested and found to be effective at reducing allergens and other irritants in the air.
In contrast, with the Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin, the air that is expelled from the vacuum may still contain some allergens and other particles that can cause respiratory issues for people with allergies or asthma. But, so far, I haven’t visually noted any dust exhaustion via the open port, so maybe it’s a long-run factor, not something that happens due to the design’s flaw.
Utilities
Winner: Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin
Regarding the utilities, the major difference lies in the cord length and reach of the devices. While Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin boasts a 35 ft cord and an extendable hose with a max 15 ft reach, the opponent Multi Floor 2’s parameters are 31 ft and 9ft, respectively. The numbers are all good, but the latter device may not satisfy users with high-ceiling houses or long staircases to clean.
Another advantage that the Origin has is the 0.52-gallon dust bin, much bigger than the 0.22-gallon of the Multi Floor 2! That ensures longer cleaning sessions with no need to dump the content in the middle of vacuuming.
Price and value
Winner: Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin
Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin is a vacuum cleaner that offers great value for its price. Why? Its price is considerably lower than that of version 2, and its suction power is almost equal to the model. Also, it boasts a longer reach and cord, so it’s more convenient if your house has larger rooms or is packed with furniture in each one of them.
If you want a more affordable vacuum but still enjoy its devices’ advanced design and sturdy build, it’s better to pick the Origin.
