Shark APEX AZ1002 outperforms thanks to its remarkable cleaning performance, whether on hard floors or carpets. The DouClean technology allows it to pick up small to large debris without struggling. Besides, the self-cleaning brush rolls and HEPA filter system make the machine extremely suitable for pet owners.
Shark NV752 also performs really well on bare floors. The maneuverability is decent with a swivel head, Powered Lift-Away feature, carrying handle, and many other useful features.

After weighing the differences between these two machines, I found that Shark APEX AZ1002 wins 2:0 and ties 1 against Shark NV752 thanks to its cleaning performance, maneuverability, and technologies. Read the breakdown below to learn more details.
Cleaning performance

Compatible floor type
Shark APEX AZ1002 performs really great on both hard floors and carpets. The DouClean technology is the key that sets it apart from the opponent. This system comes with a soft brush roll in the front and a hard brush roll in the back. These two brush rolls work together, make direct contact with the floor and dig deep into the carpet, so cleaning performance is significantly increased. Moreover, this system also allows you to pick up large debris without changing the cleaner head or adjusting the nozzle head.
In addition, these brush rolls offer effective self-cleaning ability. In pet hair cleaning performance tests, almost nothing is wrapped around the roller, even on hardwood floors or carpets. That means you don’t need to spend time cleaning the brush roll after every vacuuming. In my opinion, this feature is very useful for pet owners.
With Shark NV752, it also works well on hard floors. It easily picks up large debris like chili flakes, rice, and breakfast cereals. However, since its brush system doesn’t have DouClean technology, it struggles a lot to vacuum full-sized Froot Loops. The fact that the machine offers three modes, including “hard floor”, “low-pile carpet”, and “high-pile carpet”, allows you to adjust the height of the main nozzle, but I do not appreciate this feature. Honestly, they don’t really work and you need to use the wand instead to suck up large debris like that.
Aside from that, the brush rolls of the NV752 also have no anti-tangle function, so it requires more time for cleaning and maintenance.
In general, there are two machines that have better cleaning performance on hard floors than on carpets. They often leave a little fine debris like flour after the first pass, so you need to push the vacuum back and forth a few more times to make sure the carpet is cleaned from down deep.
Pet hair performance
In this aspect, Shark APEX also achieves better performance than Shark NV752 thanks to its brush roll system. DouClean technology allows you to roll the machine more easily on carpets while the self-cleaning feature requires less maintenance. In addition, the soft roller at the front can be removed and placed back easily, making this system easier to clean.
However, this does not mean that the AZ1002 does not require any maintenance on the brush roll system. After some time, when removing the soft roller, you can see that there is a lot of dirt built up behind its location. At that time, you need to clean that location if you don’t want your vacuum to stall.
As for Shark NV752, objectively, this machine handles pet hair quite well, especially when on low-pile carpets. When on bare floors, it’s a bit difficult because the main brushroll is turned off when using “hard floor” mode. At the same time, the NV752 also does not have a self-cleaning function (I have mentioned above) so it takes longer to deal with tangled hair.
In addition, each machine comes with a turbo brush tool to help clean fur and hair on couches.

Although there is not much difference in suction power, in general, Shark AZ1002 is stronger than Shark NV752. The AZ1002 has a wattage of 1350 W while the power of the NV752 is 1150 W.
Each machine offers three suction modes, including “hard floor”, “low pile carpet”, and “high pile carpet”. They also have three more options to adjust the suction strength from min to max level. These control buttons are all concentrated on the handle, so it is very convenient for users.

The dust cups of Shark AZ1002 and NV752 have the same capacity, about 0.88 quarts. In my opinion, such a capacity is a bit small, and I have come across many upright vacuum cleaners with large cups. As you know, large dust cups often require less emptying.
However, in return, these dust cups have a pretty sturdy design, easy to clean and empty. They are made from hard and transparent plastic so you can tell how full it is with just a glance. In particular, Shark NV752 also has an indicating line for you to observe.
Filtration
These machines share the same filtration system, which requires very little recurring costs and maintenance.
This system features one post-motor filter and two pre-motor filters, combined with anti-allergen complete seal technology. These filters provide outstanding air filtration performance, are washable, and can be reused many times. Meanwhile, the anti-allergen complete seal forces the unfiltered air to pass through all filters without leaking out, thereby ensuring the air is truly filtered.
The post-motor filter is a HEPA filter, which plays a major role in filtering the air for the vacuum cleaner. It can retain 99.97% of airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns such as pollen, mold, dirt, bacteria, etc. As a result, it is highly recommended and suitable for those who have allergies or just do not want to inhale the things they are trying to vacuum.
Two pre-motor filters include a felt filter and a foam filter. Filters prevent dust particles from entering the engine and help increase the lifespan of the motor.
The post-motor filter is located on the front of the vacuum’s body, above the cleaner head. The pre-motor filters are located below the dirt compartment. All three filters should be cleaned periodically with cold water and allowed to dry for at least 24 hours before putting them back in the machine.

Build quality
From my experience, I consider these machines to the similar build quality. They are mostly made up of hard plastic except for the mental wands. Overall, however, they are still relatively sturdy to handle.
Besides, they are all easy to assemble. Each part has clips so you can simply attach them together without tools. I bet it only takes you about 5 minutes to complete the setup of a machine and if there is something you don’t understand, be sure to read the manual again.
Maneuverability
Although Shark AZ1002 weighs almost 1 pound more than Shark NV752, their weight in hand is almost the same. While they are slightly heavier than other upright vacuum cleaners, the carrying handles make them easier to carry around. Also, their heads can rotate quite a wide angle, so moving them in tight spaces is quite smooth.
Both machines have the Powered Lift-Away function, which offers more convenience than the original Shark Lift-Away version. The Powered Lift-Away feature allows you to turn your upright vacuum into a handheld vacuum just by a button. You can hold the pod with one hand while using the cleaner head/hose/wand/tools with the other hand. So, how is it different from the normal Lift-Away function?
Shark Lift-Away vacuums still allow you to detach the pod from the wand and use that to clean under tables, under beds, and on stairs. However, they don’t have the power at the end of the handle so you can’t use motorized tools. In the meantime, no matter which tool you are using, the Powered Lift-Away always provides the power for the best performance.
Storing
Both machines are fairly easy to store. They are tall but compact and have quite small footprints, so they just take up a small room and stand up on their own. When comparing the two machines, I found that the APEX was more upright and closer to the wall than the NV752.
Each machine comes with three tools but only two of those attachments are stored directly on the machine body, the other turbo brush does not fit into any spots on the vacuum.
Range
Each machine comes with a 30-foot power cord length, and this is the maximum length that Shark has equipped for their upright vacuums until now. Compared to other vacuums on the market, this length is great and it provides a decent cleaning reach.
However, their hose is quite short, only about 6 feet. Luckily they all have lift-away functions so it shouldn’t be a big deal when you need to clean the stairs.
In terms of cleaning path, Shark AZ1002’s is 11 inches while Shark NV752’s is 10.5 inches. You can see that the difference is not large. The wide cleaning path increases the area of each pass and helps to optimize cleaning time.

Apart from the differences I mentioned above, the Shark APEX AZ1002 and NV752 still have many similarities, such as anti-allergen complete seal technology, HEPA filtration, dust cup capacity, advanced swivel steering, and so on.

These machines are all equipped with LED lights on the nozzles and on the handles. These LED lights help users see dirt that is difficult to see with the naked eye and illuminate poorly lit places. In particular, the LED light on the handle allows you to illuminate your path, no matter what tool you use.
Controls
All the controls of both machines are concentrated on the handle, including the power button, the suction mode buttons, and the suction strength switch. Not all vacuum cleaners in this price range have such a design.
