Shark NV752 vs LA502: It wasn’t hard for me to see that the first one outperformed a bit after a few tests.
The Shark NV752, although it’s cheaper than the LA502, has a few nifty features that its competitor doesn’t have. It can be used in four configurations, helping you to clean every corner of your home.
The Shark LA502 works well on any surface thanks to DuoClean technology and is ideal for pet owners as it has a self-cleaning brush roll. But this machine would be better if it had a power cord at least 30 feet long.

The Shark NV752 wins 2-1 and draws one against the LA502. It has impressive suction power, comes with a longer power cord, and can be used in 4 configurations.
Clean Performance
Winner: Tie
Dust and Debris
The duo could suck up large and small debris and dust particles as easy as pie, and that is normal for vacuums with such strong suction. It seems the NV752 picked up more dirt on the first pass, but, of course, I had to make two passes to clear up everything to get a spotlessly clean surface.
But it is worth noting that whatever type of trash you want to suck up, you need to ensure it’s not wet since that’s not the possibility for these machines. If not, their motors and filters can get damaged. I tried using them to capture very small vegetable pieces scattered on the floor, and they worked. But I recommend avoiding doing so often. Better safe than sorry!
Pet Hair
If you have a few four-legged friends, you know how arduous it can be to deal with pet hair. I found that Shark NV752 vs LA502 could easily pick up short-to-long hair, on both bare floors and carpets, with ease, and they worked best on short strands.
When it comes to long hair, the brush roll of the NV752 is not designed with anti-hair wrap in mind, so I sometimes had to remove the hair manually to avoid clogging manually. The LA502, on the other hand, has a self-cleaning brush roll, so it sent a large amount of hair into its dust cup.
Dimensions And Weight
Winner: Shark LA502
Shark NV752 vs LA502 have dimensions of 13.2 x 11.9 x 45 inches and 10 x 12 x 46.5 inches, respectively. There’s not much of a difference here, and they’re generally quite bulky. So, in the upright configuration, they can take up a lot of storage space and struggle to go under tables or couches.
In terms of weight, the Shark NV752 weighs 15.4 pounds, while the LA502 is slightly lighter at 12.3 pounds. The second one is certainly lightweight, while the other is lightweight for some and heavy for others. So if lightweight is your priority, the LA502 is your best bet.
Both the Shark NV752 vs LA502 have a swivel steering system, which makes maneuvering them easier. During testing, it helped me avoid bumping into the table, chair legs, and walls accidentally!
Usability
Winner: Shark NV752
The NV752 comes with a 30-foot power cord, allowing you to cover a large area without switching outlets too often. The LA502, unfortunately, only has a 25-foot-long cord, not the 30-foot one as in the description, and that 5 feet can make a huge difference. I wished these cords were retractable instead of requiring manual wrap, but that’s not a big deal.
Regarding dust cup capacity, the Shark NV752 has a 0.88-quart dusk tank, while the dirt bin of the LA502 is quite similar, with a maximum capacity of 0.89-quarts of dirt. To my mind, these dust cups are a bit small, but not a deal breaker.
Utilities
Winner: Shark NV752
Alternate Configuration
In addition to the default upright configuration, the LA502 can be used in a semi-handheld configuration thanks to the “Lift-Away” feature. All you need to do is step on the release pedal and lift the pod out simultaneously. Then, you can clean hard-to-reach areas with its wand or attachments.
It is often said that the Shark NV752 is a 3-in-1 model. But, in my opinion, it should be a 4-in-1 vacuum, which means it has three other configurations apart from the upright configuration.
The NV752, different from the LA502, features Powered Lift-Away, which keeps its brush roll spinning after you remove its pod. That said, you can use it as a semi-handheld vacuum with its wand or a stick with its floorhead.
In addition, it can also be combined with a caddy, a wheeled base, to be turned into a canister vacuum. Unfortunately, Shark stopped packing the wheeled caddy with the NV752 in 2017. You’ll have to buy this part separately, but it’s worth it!
HEAD Lights
Both the Shark NV752 vs LA502 have LED lights on their nozzles, which keep your cleaning path illuminated to spot any dust and dirt in the dark area. But the NV752 is even better with a light on the handle, allowing you to enjoy this benefit when using it in its semi-handheld configuration.
Cleaner Head
The cleaner head of the LA502 has two brush rolls: a soft roller at the front and a finned brush roll in the center, allowing this model to move from carpet to bare floor and vice versa seamlessly.
The center brush roll is designed to limit hair tangle, which is why sometimes it is referred to as “self-cleaning.” I found that it worked but didn’t completely remove tangled hair as Shark advertised.
Shark NV752 vs LA502: Similarities
Filter
The Shark NV752 vs LA502 share a filtration system, including two pre-motor filters and one post-motor (HEPA) filter. They are removable and washable and should be rinsed periodically to maintain good suction power.
The HEPA filter can capture up to 99.97% of airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns, including dust, bacteria, pollen, etc. So it is ideal for those who have allergies or respiratory problems.
Better yet, these machines are equipped with an anti-allergen complete seal to keep sucked air inside the unit until properly filtered through the HEPA filter instead of leaking out through cracks in the body.
