My review of the Dyson Ball Multi Floor vs Animal vacuum cleaner comparison is something you won’t want to miss. Their prices are about $100 different, but they have a lot in common and both do a great job of cleaning. For this reason, perhaps, neither option is the clear victor. However, different machines will work better for different kinds of tasks, so read this review to choose the suitable one.
The Dyson Ball Animal 2 has a higher suction power than the Dyson Multi Floor 2, making it an excellent choice for cleaning pet hair, bare floors, and low-pile carpets. In addition to this, the dust bin is significantly larger, requiring less frequent emptying.
The Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2, on the other hand, is more compact and lightweight to maneuver around and more affordable. Moreover, its overall cleaning performance is slightly better compared to the Dyson Ball Animal 2. Its performance on high-pile carpets is even much better than its counterpart.
Dyson Ball Multi Floor vs Animal: Comparison Chart
Dyson Ball Multi-floor vs Animal: Differences
With the final score of 2-2, this is an inconclusive battle as both have their own strengths and weaknesses. The Dyson Animal 2 has a larger dust bin and better suction power than the Multi Floor 2. Meanwhile, the Dyson Multi Floor 2 has a more compact and lightweight design, and its overall cleaning performance is comparable to or even slightly better than that of the Dyson Animal 2.
Cleaning tests
The Winner: Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2
In terms of cleaning performance, both the Dyson Ball Animal 2 and the Dyson Multi Floor 2 vacuums are formidable competitors.
The Dyson Ball Animal 2 has a more powerful suction power. In fact, its power is strongest on the market. But stronger suction power does not mean it performs better on all types of floors.
Both did well on low carpet, with the Ball Animal 2 getting a score of 100% and the Multi Floor 2 getting a score of 99%. On the bare floor, the Ball Animal 2 was able to remove 99% of debris, while the Multi Floor 2 scored an average of 95% on all types of debris.
I noticed more of a difference between these two machines when I use them to clean high-pile carpets. They are equally effective in dealing with smaller debris. However, the large debris like cereal is where the difference came into play. The powerful suction of the Animal 2 has the effect of drawing the cleaning head closer to the base of the carpet, which in turn has the tendency to pull forward larger debris like cereals instead of collecting them.
In this case, the Dyson Multi Floor 2 performs a little bit better as it has slightly less suction power. So, the cleaning head could stay higher above the carpet fibers and pick up more cereal.
Even though there are some differences, I could say that the performance of these two Dyson uprights is pretty much the same. The Dyson Ball Animal 2 performs marginally better on bare floors and low-pile carpets, but it is not designed for use on high-pile carpets. Although the Multi Floor 2 does not perform as well as the Animal 2 on low-pile carpets and bare floors, it can work well on all floors, even on high-pile carpets. If I had to pick just one, it would be the Dyson Multi Floor 2 vacuum cleaner.
Design & Convenience
The Winner: Dyson Ball Animal 2
Weight
The lightweight feature makes the Multi Floor 2 wins this round. It is possible to see in the comparison chart that the Multi Floor 2 is lighter than the Dyson Ball Animal 2. While the Dyson Ball Animal 2 weighs 17.5 pounds, the Multi Floor 2 weighs 15.6 pounds.
Although they are not lightweight, handling them is not particularly difficult. It helps that it’s heavy at the bottom. Since most of the weight is in the ball, it’s easy to turn with less force and doesn’t tend to tip over. The machine can be picked up by the handle located on top of the dirt canister. Despite this part being intended to detach from the rest of the machine, the connection and grip felt secure when I carried it.
Dustbin Capacity
When compared to the Dyson Multi Floor 2, the dirt bin capacity of the Dyson Ball Animal 2 (2L) is slightly higher. When you do a thorough cleaning of your home, you will find that this is helpful because it can hold more dry dirt than the dirt bin that comes with the Multi Floor 2. That you don’t have to empty the dustbin too often.
Their dustbin can be emptied with just one click of a button, which opens a hatch to toss the dirt and debris. If your pet sheds, you might want to be careful. It may be necessary to do some digging in order to remove all of the pet hair that is stuck in the dustbin.
Accessories
The selection of tools is yet another distinction between the Dyson Ball Animal 2 and the Dyson Multi Floor 2. Each model is an upright vacuum cleaner, and it comes with a wide variety of tools and accessories that can help with a variety of different cleaning tasks around the house.
The Dyson Ball Animal 2 comes with the following tools and accessories.
- Stair tool
- Turbine tool
- Combination tool (dusting brush and crevice tool)
With the Dyson Multi Floor 2, we get slightly different tools and accessories, but still a nice variety, including:
- Stair tool
- Crevice tool
- Dusting brush
The main tool you’ll be missing in this machine is the turbine tool, which works particularly well for pet hair.
Price & Value for money
The Winner: Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2
The Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 and the Dyson Ball Animal 2 had an initial retail price of $399.99 and $499.99, respectively. Therefore, Multi Floor 2 is $100 less expensive. Even after taking into account any applicable discounts, the Dyson Ball Multi Floor is the more cost-effective option for you. However we have to compare the differences based on the correlation between price and quality, in other words, we need to determine if they are worth the money.
If so, in my opinion, Multi Floor 2 is both cheaper and better value for money. It has a lower price, but its overall cleaning performance is slightly greater than that of Dyson Ball Animal 2. It is also more compact and lightweight. However, if you spend an extra $100, you may get a vacuum cleaner that has stronger suction power, superior performance on bare floors, and a larger dust bin.
