Between Hoover WindTunnel 2 vs Bissell PowerForce Helix, which model should I choose to bring home? For me, I will pick the Hoover Windtunnel 2.
The Hoover WindTunnel 2 has some superior features to its rival, including the larger dirt bin, the standard HEPA filtration, the stronger suction, the on/off brush roll feature, and the automatically retractable cord. If these features are what you looking for, this Hoover vacuum cleaner can meet your demands.
Meanwhile, I see that the Bissell PowerForce Helix is greater for the money as it performs decent suction performance and is lightweight, which can meet your basic demand of daily cleaning for a price under $100.

Hoover WindTunnel 2 vs Bissell PowerForce Helix: Differences
After considering Hoover WindTunnel 2 vs Bissell PowerForce Helix 2191 differences, I decided that the Hoover WindTunnel 2 wins 3-1 against the Bissell 2191 owing to its greater cleaning performance, dirt bin and filtration, and utility.
Cleaning performance
Winner: Hoover Windtunnel 2
Suction strength
The suction strength of the Hoover Windtunnel 2 is slightly stronger than that of the Bissell PowerForce Helix. Specifically, the suction at hose of the Hoover Windtunnel 2 was about 68” water lift while that of the Bissell 2191 was around 62” water lift.
Though the suction strength values of these two vacuums could be considered low for some people, in my opinion, their suction performances are decent and suitable for basic cleaning demands. Besides, I noticed that the Hoover Windtunnel 2 performed better suction performance than the Bissell 2191, especially on the hard floor.
On/Off brush roll
With the Hoover Windtunnel 2, I can turn off the brush roll for better pick-up efficiency on the bare floor. I can easily turn off the brush roll by touching the switch on the cleaning head with my foot.
The benefit of stopping the beater when switching from carpeted surfaces to bare floors is that it will help prevent the bristles from scattering the debris. As a result, the vacuum can pick up more stuff in the bin. So, that’s why I prefer the Hoover Windtunnel 2 to the Bissell 2191 for cleaning hard-floor surfaces.
Floor height adjustment
Both Hoover WindTunnel 2 and Bissell PowerForce Helix feature a height-adjustable nozzle with 5 levels. This helps us change the nozzle’s height to be suitable for specific types of floors. This feature allows the vacuum to suck in the large particles on floors more effectively by modifying the nozzle height to a higher level.
Compatible floor type
- Carpets
On carpeted surfaces, both machines perform good cleaning performance. They can lift up the fine debris and hairs and pet furs effectively. With height-adjustable nozzles, I can change the level when pushing the vacuums on my carpets is difficult.
- Bare floors
As mentioned, the Hoover WindTunnel 2 has a better pick-up performance on the bare floor than the Bissell PowerForce Helix. This can be attributed to the switch for turning off the brush roll, which helps the vacuum avoid scattering the debris away.
Design & Convenience
Winner: Bissell PowerForce Helix 2191
Maneuverability
- Lightweight
The lightweight feature makes the Bissell PowerForce Helix wins this round. It is possible to see in the comparison chart that the Bissell model is much lighter than the Hoover Windtunnel 2. Some people may have difficulty pushing the Hoover WindTunnel 2 around, especially on the carpet, due to its heavy weight.
- Swivel steering
However, these two vacuum models do not feature the swivel steering like on the higher-end models, so it could be difficult to steer the machines around the corners of your house. This may put more pressure on your wrist when maneuvering the vacuum, especially with standard-weight upright vacuums like the Hoover WindTunnel 2.
Noise levels
For Hoover WindTunnel 2 vs Bissell Powerforce Helix vacuuming noise, I see that they are both noisy vacuums with around 80 – 82 dB noise levels. If you are sensitive to noise or have children and pets at home, these vacuums may not be optimal picks for you. So, you can spend extra money on higher-end vacuum products with lower noise levels, like Shark or Dyson.
Dirt Tank & Filtration
Winner: Hoover WindTunnel 2
Dirt tank
The Hoover WindTunnel 2 has a little larger dirt bin capacity (1.29 liters to the max fill line) than the Bissell 2191. This will be beneficial when you deep clean your house as it will hold more dry dirt than the dirt bin of the Bissell. So you don’t have to empty the bin too frequently.
Filtration system
Another thing I appreciated about the Hoover WindTunnel 2 is its standard sealed HEPA filtration. Though this is not as effective as the Anti-allergen seal HEPA on Shark vacuums, it is somehow better than the conventional filtration on the Bissell PowerForce Helix.
HEPA filtration is well-known for filtering micro dust and allergen, which is considered helpful for allergy or asthma suffering users. Thus, I decided to give one point to Hoover WindTunnel 2 in this round.
Utility
Winner: Hoover WindTunnel 2
Auto-retractable cord
The automatic cord retract featured on the Hoover WindTunnel 2 makes this model the winner. I personally do not mind whether a vacuum winner has an auto-cord retract function or not, but other users may find this function convenient for their house cleaning works.
Attachments
For Hoover WindTunnel 2 vs Bissell PowerForce Helix attachments, the Hoover model has more accessories than the Bissell PowerForce Helix. Particularly, it comes with the crevice tool, pet turbo tool, and pivoting dusting brush. Meanwhile, the Bissell 2191 includes the crevice tool and dusting brush.
The crevice tool of the two models is an indispensable accessory as it is helpful in cleaning crevices in the house. Besides, I like the Hoover model for its included pet turbo tool, which I often use to clean my sofas. Also, the pivoting dusting brush is useful for cleaning ceiling fan blades.
However, I feel a little awkward to control when using the pivoting dusting brush of the Hoover vacuum because it does not lock in the position, and it often bends backward. So, I think the dusting brush of the Bissell 2191 is easier to use.
