In the debate over which machine is superior, Eureka NEU280 vs Eureka Airspeed, I would like to offer my humble opinion. For a quick answer, the winner is the NEU280.
Our winner, Eureka NEU280, is full of my heart for its amazing benefits: Strong suction power, a wide range of operations, nozzle height adjustment, a washable filter, and more.
Eureka Airspeed, as the runner, is also a very formidable opponent. Its price is a big plus, while its ability to deep clean on many different carpet surfaces is also excellent. Another plus point of this machine is its extremely compact design and easy portability.

Eureka NEU280 vs Eureka Airspeed: Differences
After experimenting with these two upright vacuums, I found that Eureka NEU280 wins 3:0 and ties 1 against Eureka Airspeed due to its nozzle height adjustment function, suction strength, noise level, range of operation, etc. To learn more details, check out the analysis below.
cleaning performance
The winner: Eureka NEU280
Compatible Floor Type
Eureka NEU280 works well on both hard floors and carpets. Most of my house is hardwood or laminate flooring, so I had many opportunities to test the cleaning ability of this machine on hard surfaces. Although there is no brushroll on/off switch mode, this friend still sweeps quite well and doesn’t have much debris scattered around.
Besides, this device also has good performance on carpets. Thanks to five carpet height settings, the machine can easily move over low, medium, and high carpets. I have some large area rugs made of wool and sisal, and the NEU280 works smoothly on them. The amount of dirt the vacuum cleaner sucks out of the carpet within the first 30 seconds will surprise you since the carpet is clearly quite clean to the naked eye.
As for Eureka Airspeed, I found it cleaned dirt better on all high-pile carpets and area rugs than on hard floors. Unlike the NEU280, this machine does not allow you to adjust the nozzle height. The unit performed relatively well when I cleaned dust and debris smaller than or equal to cereal crumbs strewn on hard floors. However, with larger debris like the size of Cheerios, even on carpets, it is difficult for this machine to suck them up. It sometimes shoots stuff back out on the hard floor, so you have to keep going over it.
Suction Strength
Based on the power rating mentioned in the comparison chart above, it can be seen that the suction power of Eureka NEU280 is stronger than Eureka Airspeed. According to my actual experience, that is true, but I also found that the difference is not too large.
The NEU280 has tremendous suction power. It’s powerful enough to clean my thick carpet full of dirt and pet hair without damaging it. Although it is not designed for pet owners on purpose, if you are tired of cleaning your house of pet hair, I highly recommend this machine.
The Airspeed also has powerful suction for such a lightweight vacuum cleaner. Even with stains like grape juice stains on the carpet for months, this machine can still be cleaned. It’s really great for cleaning rugs and carpets!
Noise Level
Comparing noise levels, the NEU280 is quieter than the Airspeed. Eureka NEU280 is not loud as other vacuum cleaners can be. I have had the opportunity to experience quite a few upright vacuums, and in fact, there are many more expensive and noisier machines than this one.
As for Eureka Airspeed, the machine is a bit louder than average, and the noise level is about 82 dB. This level can be compared to the noise of a busy street in the city center. In my previous reviews, I have also emphasized that this noise level will not affect your hearing unless you are exposed to it for long periods, specifically over 40 hours per week.
dirt tank & filter
The winner: Eureka NEU280
Dirt Tank
There is not much difference in this aspect between the two machines. Both are bagless and use a dust cup to hold the dirt sucked in. The dust cups need to be cleaned when the dirt reaches the “Max” mark. The operations to empty them are also very simple. Just press the dust cup release button to remove the dust cup, then hold it over the garbage bin and press the open button on the bottom of the cup, allowing the dust to empty.
In terms of dust container capacity, the NEU280 is slightly larger in size than the Airspeed. One side is 1.9 liters, and the other side is 1.7 liters. For me, these numbers are almost equal. Overall, their dirt tanks are quite large, which allows for longer cleaning times and requires less emptying.
Filter
Regarding the filtration systems, both machines employ a foam filter, which can be easily washed and reused next time. Although they are not equipped with advanced filters like HEPA filtration, their filters still work relatively well. At least you won’t need to run off to the store to get a new one, as the filter is washable.
After a period of testing with the NEU280, I also found that this vacuum cleaner does not spew dust, and the filter is not clogged with pet hair. I have a few notes for you when cleaning the foam filter, as follows. After removing the dust cup foam filter, hand wash it and allow it to dry for 24 hours before putting back into the vacuum cleaner.
design & convenience
The winner: Eureka NEU280
Build Quality
Most upright vacuum cleaners are made of plastic, and so are these two. In terms of structure, Eureka NEU280 has a larger size and weight than Eureka Airspeed. The Airspeed is actually lighter than most upright vacuums I’ve reviewed.
This pair is also very easy to assemble. It only took me about 2-3 minutes to complete installing the NEU280 because the manual was clearly organized and easy to follow. As for the Airspeed, you just put the handle on, and no tools are needed. In addition, the included accessories are all stored on board, so it is very convenient to use them when needed.
Range
Eureka NEU280 has a range advantage over its opponent thanks to the larger cleaning path, the longer power cord, and the longer hose. The wider the nozzle, the larger the cleaning area of the machine and the faster the cleaning. Plus, the long power cord allows you to move further while the long hose allows you to clean high places like the ceiling, for example.
great for value
Tie
One of the big advantages that helps Eureka Airspeed have large online purchases is its low price. For those who are looking for a cheap upright vacuum cleaner with good quality, you should not overlook this product. I was particularly impressed with its powerful suction and ability to deep clean carpet surfaces. However, it still has certain disadvantages, such as being quite loud and not offering nozzle height adjustment.
As for Eureka NEU280, this machine delivers what you pay for. I mean, the price meets the value. Compared to the Airspeed, you need to pay about $20 more, but in return, you get a vacuum that works well on both hard floors and carpets, is less noisy, has a wider operating range, and so on.
