It’s difficult to choose between Shark NV356E vs NV586 when it comes to upright vacuum cleaners. Both machines have good cleaning performance suitable for families. However, if I could only choose one, I would choose Shark NV586.

The Shark NV586 upright vacuum cleaner offers high suction power, flexibility, and ease of use. Furthermore, the machine has a 2-in-1 vacuuming function and an electric lifting function that makes moving more convenient. Another feature that sets it apart is its LED headlights, which help clean hard-to-reach areas.

When it comes to cleaning performance, the Shark NV356E is a formidable contender. There are several outstanding features, including a rotating steering wheel, a toggle brush roll, and a HEPA filter. In spite of this, it cannot compete with other models due to its lack of features like LED headlights and Fingertip Controls.

Shark NV356E vs NV586: Differences

After testing on both machines, I decided that the Shark NV586 won 2-0 and once ties against the NV356E thanks to its cleaning performance, dirt tank capacity, Fingertip Controls, and LED headlights. Check out the article below!

Cleaning performance

The winner: Shark NV586

Pet hair performance

It is inevitable that you will encounter problems relating to your pet’s shedding if you are a pet owner. I have tested the ability to suck hair on both Shark NV356E vs NV586 machines and noticed the difference.

After a few tests, I can conclude that the Shark NV586 has excellent results. This vacuum has no problem handling pet hair on a variety of floors whether you use a multi-surface floor nozzle or a soft roller floor nozzle. The suction power of the machine is strong enough to suck all pet hair out of the carpet surface without clogging. The brush roll is also effective in detangling hair. Plus, it comes with a Pet Multi-Tool which is designed to capture embedded pet-hair on all surfaces. To ensure the best performance of the machine, I recommend that you clean it after each use to get the desired results.

While using the Shark NV356E, I encountered some problems with longer hair. Unfortunately, the suction is not strong enough, the head is prone to tangling, and it is not suitable for pet hair on bare floors.

Noise level

Both Shark NV356E vs NV586 machines have excellent vacuuming with minimal tolerable noise (around 76 dB), making it a great choice for home use.

After testing I found the NV356E has a softer noise, reaching about 77 dB. Meanwhile, the NV586 is approximately 79dB. The explanation for this can be said to be that the suction power of the NV586 is stronger to remove dirt better. In addition, the machine is designed with low to medium noise depending on the type of floor, so it will not have a great impact on users.

Dirt Bin capacity

Tie

Both models of Shark’s vacuum cleaners feature an open box design that allows the dirt container to be easily emptied. The Shark NV586’s trash can holds up to 2.4 quarts and is higher than the Shark NV356E’s capacity (2.2 quarts).

Here, there is a difference in tank size. The larger tank capacity means you are able to clean for longer periods without emptying the bin as often. However, in my opinion, the difference between these two vacuum cleaners is negligible since both meet my needs.

Both machines are similar in that they do not have a carrying bag. This design has the advantage of not requiring a bag since a dust container is equipped with cyclone technology to separate particles from the air instead of using a bag. With this technology, vacuuming is faster, and emptying is easier, resulting in lower operating costs and less bag replacement.

Design and Convenience

The winner: Shark NV586

Weight

When it comes to the weight of the two machines, the NV356E weighs in at 15.7 lbs while the NV586 weighs in at 15.2 lbs. However, when used in my own home, I found that both machines are quite thin and light compared to the size of some other models on the market.

As a result of this vacuum cleaner’s relatively light weight, I can move it easily around tight areas when I’m cleaning the house, and it’s easy to move up and down the stairs. I’m satisfied with these machines.

Cleaning Path

When evaluating an effective vacuum cleaner, it is important to consider the cleaning path. A vacuum cleaner’s cleaning line refers to the width of its brush roll. Depending on how wide or narrow your brush is, it will take you more turns to finish vacuuming.

Comparing the two, I appreciate the Shark NV586’s 12-inch cleaning path over the Shark NV356E’s 9.5-inch cleaning path. However, this size isn’t ideal, but the NV586 performed better and took less time to move around the living space.

LED headlights

Both machines are user-friendly, but the LED lighting makes it a bigger plus and upgrade. Perhaps you consider LEDs to be unnecessary and useless. However, when I used it, I knew it was really a great feature to have in a vacuum cleaner.

With the Shark NV586, the LED floodlight on the faucet helps detect debris hidden in darker places in the house, such as under furniture, in closets, in basements, and on stairs with insufficient lighting. Furthermore, it detects pet hair on the ground to ensure that your home is always clean.

Shark NV356E does not have this feature, causing it to lose points before its opponent.

Shark NV356E vs NV586: Similarities

Hepa filter

The Shark NV356E vs NV586 have similarly impressive HEPA filters. HEPA filters are essential for trapping airborne allergens like dust mites and pet dander to help keep your home clean and healthy.

In this filter, twisted and rotated glass fibers form an infinite fiber maze with interlacing between each fiber. It collects dirt and ensures no allergens can escape and affect your family’s life.

Lift-away feature

The “Lift-Away” feature on the Shark UV356E vs NV586 models allows me to remove the canister from the cleaning head.
